Omaha Community Playhouse presents  The Lady with All the Answers
*The Omaha Community Playhouse presents The Lady with All the Answers August 20 – September 19, Howard Drew Theatre For decades, renowned newspaper advice columnist Ann Landers responded to countless questions from lovelorn teens, confused couples, and a multitude of others in need of advice on matters small and momentous: like the proper way to hang toilet paper rolls. This one-woman show provides a compelling portrait of this folksy, funny, frank, and slightly eccentric writer and personality. Eppie Lederer was born in Sioux City, Iowa, and for several years was a happy Midwestern housewife. When her family moved to Chicago, she applied for a job to assist the woman writing the syndicated “Ann Landers” advice column for the Chicago Sun-Times. But the woman had just died and Eppie was hired to write the column — and she also inherited the Ann Landers pen-name. At the height of her popularity, Ann Landers was read by some 90 million people. Her daily dialog with America helped shape the social landscape for almost half a century. Susan Baer Collins directs. Stage manager is Suzanne Withem; Connie Lee is World-Herald Liaison. Kathy Wheeldon plays Ann Landers. Performances run Thursdays through Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. only. Tickets for this play are $35 for adults and $21 for students. Mention that you’re a TAG member for a $10 discount; membership card must be shown when picking up your ticket. The popular Seven Buck Sunday deal is NOT available for productions in the Howard Drew Theatre. Playhouse subscribers may begin making reservations as of August 3; tickets go on sale to the public on August 10. Call 553-0800 for reservations or information.

SNAP! Productions presents  Sordid Lives
*SNAP! Productions presents Sordid Lives August 19 – September 12 SNAP! Productions is serving up a heaping helping of Southern-fried sauciness in this black comedy about white trash by Del Shores. The hilarious exposé of small-town Texas life is full of love, loss, and big hair. Sometimes it takes a death to bring a family together, but not necessarily Peggy’s family. Get ready for guffaws the size of Texas with this twisted, white-trash tale that puts the 'fun' in 'dysfunctional'. The hilariously sordid details about a southern family surface with a vengeance when relatives converge for the funeral of "Grandma Peggy," who died after tripping over her lover's wooden legs! Toss in a couple of feuding, big-haired daughters, a jumpy aunt who just quit smoking, the scorned neighbor from hell, and crazy, cross-dressing "Brother Boy" — and you've got an outrageous "train wreck you can't help but watch!"
