The Theatre Arts Guild has undergone strategic planning during the 2017-2018 year. As part of that process, a survey was created and released to members, former members, and practicing non-members of the Omaha theatre community. Based on the results, the board recognized changes needed to be made, particularly to the TAG Awards, in order to best serve the mission and vision of TAG and the theatre arts community.

The purpose of the TAG Celebration is to recognize the hard work of the Omaha-area theatre community in a social setting, while being more fiscally responsible and sensitive to staffing resources. This enables us to shift additional energy into scholarships, educational programing, grant awards and theatre services. This year, we are removing the words “Awards” and “Gala” from this event, and replacing them with “Celebration”.

The 2018 event will look and feel quite a bit different than previous years. This year, we will not have traditional nominations or final voting for specific awards categories.

In Lieu of Nomination Night we will host an event, mid-summer, to highlight performances by our Scholarship awardees and members of the theatre community. More information to come.

The Celebration on August 11  will begin with a social hour and then a theatre-style presentation, which will highlight and honor ALL actors, directors, technicians, playwrights, choreographers, designers, stage managers, theater leadership and administration, volunteers, and the theatres themselves. We’ll do this in brand new way!

We will still host an annual celebration of local theatre arts in August
We will honor our dearly departed with an In Memoriam
We will continue our annual raffle and golden-ticket drawings; funds raised by them will support TAG scholarship and grant awards
We will still present the following awards, that TAG membership will vote for: Lifetime Achievement Award, Educator Award, Youth Backstage Award and Adult Backstage Award. The TAG board will select one or more recipients for the Board Awards.
We will offer a printed program of the evening’s events

This year’s Theatre Arts Guild Celebration will be held on the evening of Saturday, August 11, 2018, at the Creighton Lied Center for the Performing Arts.
Doors open at 7 p.m. for Social Hour and a cash bar. The presentation will follow, from 8:00 to 10:00 p.m.

In an effort to raise money to support our mission, we offer advertising space in our printed program, and hold a raffle drawing the evening of the event. Funds raised will support TAG scholarships, educational programming and grants.

Golden Ticket Raffle
During the event, you may purchase a raffle ticket to win two (2) 2018-2019 season tickets to many of the theatres in the Omaha-Area. The drawing will be held the night of the celebration.
