Speaking of Black Stache and Peter, Bill Grennan and Joshua Lloyd Parker headline an outstanding cast that includes Bethany Bresnahan (as Molly), Zach Kloppenborg, Vincent Carlson-Brown, Matthew Pyle, Robby Stone, Ben Adams, Tyrone Beasley and Danny Denenberg. The cast will be busy, combining to play over one hundred roles during the course of two hours.
A touring production passed through Lincoln in March, but Gutschick promises a different experience at the Rose. The script allows for a great deal of creativity by the director and designers. “You have so many options of staging at any given moment,” he explains. It also creates unusual challenges, moving from darker themes to slapstick humor, often in the same scene. “There’s no other piece exactly like this.” Gutschick says the story will appeal equally to kids and adults. “It’s like a Pixar movie, with a lot of physical humor for the kids and a lot of clever word play for the adults.” These unique creative challenges have made this holiday project one of Gutschick’s favorites at the Rose. You might say he’s been just like a kid at Christmas.
